16 Weeks, List Style

The last time we posted I was 30 weeks pregnant and now my baby is 8 weeks old. Surprise! I'm sure all of you faithful blog readers are also faithful facebook stalkers and already know this ;) So what has changed in the past 16 weeks?? A LOT!!! Lets just make a list.

1. Rachel goes to Boise for her Food Management class and while there goes to the Boise Temple open house.... AMAZING!
2. Weston Samuel Hyde was born 11-13-12 at 8:50 am. He weighed 7lbs 11oz (which is the exact opposite of the 11lbs 7oz birth weight of his dad) and 20.5 inches (more details to come in another post about his birth story)

3. Rachel and Jesse take turns babysitting so they can attend the dedication of the Boise temple
4. Rachel skipped a week of school to recover from having a baby
5. We enjoyed our first Thanksgiving as a new family. We stayed in Rexburg with Ben and Bonnie and had some friends over.
6. The Andersons come to visit and meet baby Weston. Baby Jesse and Weston become instant best friends (as Jared and Jesse always hoped and expected).

7. Rachel returns to school
8. Aunt Haley comes to visit, babysit, and help out with Weston so Rachel can go to class

9. Rachel finally gets caught up in all her classes
10. Rachel schedules surgery (to get her gallbladder removed) for the 17th of December
11. Grandma Hyde comes to visit and babysit Sophie and Olivia. I realized when I was writing this that we didn't take a picture :(
12. Grandma Hobson comes to visit and babysit Weston so Rachel can finish up school

13. Rachel has sudden bout of pain from her gallbladder and surgery is moved up to December 4th
14. Rachel begins passing gallstones
15. Rachel skips more school because she is sick and Jesse skips work to help Rachel and Weston
16. Rachel has her gallbladder removed!
17. Rachel goes to the ER because she can't breath and is throwing up like a mad woman
18. They give Rachel a shot and send her home
19. Rachel goes to the ER again because all the symptoms come rushing back and she's also passing out and muttering strange things
20. They CT scan Rachel to make sure it's not her liver. They tell her it's air bubbles from surgery and will go away in 24 hours
21. 48 hours later Rachel is back in the ER
22. They check Rachel into the hospital
23. They monitor Rachel for 24 hours and do more blood tests
24. Conclusion: during surgery stones slipped into the bile duct, were lodged, and slowly passed through.
25. Jesse teaches the youth a dance for the ward Christmas party (it was great!!!)
26. Rachel is sore from surgery and having 8 IV's in a period of 3 weeks and takes an additional week and a half off of school

28. Jesse and Rachel finally get to relax with their new baby!!!!
29. Jesse and Rachel begin house hunting and get pre-approved for a loan
30. Weston goes on his first trip! Boise for Christmas! He handled the car ride like a champ

31. We all enjoy Weston's first Christmas (he slept through it) and a nice break from all the craziness of late

32. Weston outgrows newborn diapers (growing too fast!), is awake and alert, smiles in response to a smile, coo's, and giggles. His favorite game is when we shake his legs really fast. He also loves to arch his head really far back... he's our curious George. Check out all of his adorableness!

33. Jesse got to go skiing again
34. Weston is blessed in Boise on the same day as his new cousin Paige (also happened to be our 2nd anniversary). He looked adorable in a sweater made for him by Grandma Hobson

29. Jesse and I celebrate our 2 year anniversary while aunts, uncles, and grandparents helped babysit (we saw Les Mis and it was AWESOME!)

30. We ring in the new year with all the Hobson siblings and all 9 Hobson grandchildren

31. We return to Rexburg where Jesse still works full time at his job and Rachel tries to figure out life as a full time wife and mother.

Well, now you're up to speed on the craziness that is our life!

We're All Growed Up!

So, A LOT of stuff has been happening in the recent past and I'm sure you all have just been dying to know every little detail about our life. But for the very small minority out there, we'll try to just hit the high points. We're feeling all growed up and stuff with all of the big steps we've been taking, but so far so good.

Graduation!

(Don't make fun, my hat was a little small...)

Rachel and I just graduated! Well, Rachel actually still has a few more classes she has to take this semester but it will be officially official in December. But we just wanted to walk together. Some of our fam showed up and it was really great. I graduated in Communication (emphasis in PR) and Rachel in University Studies (Child Development, Psychology, and Culinary Arts). So yay for us. (Not going to school is awesome by the way.)

With my graduation has come a new job. I don't know if I said anything about it in my last post (I was working there part time last semester), but things have changed a lot so I'll tell you about it anyway. Basically, when I started, there were just three of us. The guy who started it (the one with the money), my manager (the one who was in charge), and me. We just did printer solutions and I was the tech that fixed/cleaned the printers and delivered the supplies and stuff. Anyway, I'll just say there were some changes in staff and now it's just me, the guy who started it, and two super awesome IT guys. With that came a complete change in the business. We now do full out IT services with printer stuff on the side. I get a company car and they pay my gas and cell phone bill, so that is suweet.

Amongst the changes, I was interviewing for a year-long internship for Church Public Affairs (which is my dream job). I had a second interview via skype that went really well and was waiting to hear back for a couple of weeks but we just decided it was best for me to stay here (and I still have yet to hear back from the church so I guess it was a good choice). So now I am doing sales and marketing for the new company while managing the print side of things. I've been doing a lot of graphic design and stuff and that has been enjoyable. I just finished our website srv-it.com.

Enough with the boring stuff, here's a cute picture of us:

Looking mysterious...

We did this fun mystery dinner with some friends a couple of months ago that was 40's-ish themed. I think we look pretty stellar.

AND we moved! Again!

And here are some more fun pictures of a fun date we went on a couple weeks ago. Everything was FREE! We had some starving student cards that were about to expire with some free things we had not yet done, so we went and did the rest of the free stuff. It was quite a blast really. I don't really know why we're making so many funny faces, but whatevs.

Free bowling!

Free Cosmic Golfing!

Free Cookie and Boise State game!

Free laser tag and more glow golf.

And free ice cream!!

Oh and we also got some free chocolates but forgot the picture.

As you all can see, Rachel is getting more and more pregnant (and beautiful). Here are some more pictures of her cute little tummy.

17 weeks

21ish weeks

25 weeks

She's been a champ. She's now at 30 weeks. Woot! The first two trimesters were relatively a breeze for her but lately she's been having some troubles. We've actually had to take a few (4) trips to the hospital. She's been waking up in the middle of the night with major back pain, muscle spasms, and she can't breath (she described it like a heart attack). The first two times they just sent her up to labor and delivery (because having contractions feels just like having a heart attack?). They told her she had some severe acid reflux or something (because acid reflux feels just like a heart attack?) and sent her away. Finally the third time it wasn't calming down so we went and demanded the ER. After some more issues, she finally got an ultrasound. Turns out she has gallstones and restricted kidneys. Let's just say she felt a lot more justified when we found that out. Apparently gallstone pain is equivalent to labor. So she's basically a pro now.

She's doing great now though. She's on a strict no/low fat diet until she has the baby and can go in for surgery. She's not so happy about the diet (recipes/food ideas would be helpful) but we feel blessed to finally know what the deal is. We're confident everything will be fine but send some prayers our way if you will.

So there it is. The juicy details of our wonderful life together. We feel so blessed and I know that God has been looking out for us lately. We recently have been praying together that we can have a unified testimony of God and His goodness and I think these experiences have been an answer to our prayers. And we are grateful!

New Things

So many new things have been happening in our lives. It's crazy! There's a lot to get you caught up on with our oh-so-exciting lives. Rachel has dubbed me (Jesse) the new blog up-keeper "since I'm the Communications guy." So here goes.

YUKI!

Do not get this confused with yucky. It is pronounced yoo-kee. Or rather she is pronounced that way. It's our new(ish) car, a 2003 Kia Optima! We've actually had it for quite a while now, but we took pictures for the sole purpose of putting it on our blog so here you have it.

We first named her Roxy, because she's a pretty foxy car. But then (on the second day driving it) the fuel pump decided to die. That was pretty upsetting as you can probably imagine. So we decided to give her a new name once all was said and done for her new determination to be a great car. And she has been.

The main reason we bought Yuki was because we needed a car that could take us farther than Rexburg. Luckily, when we were married one of my friends sold us Bubba ('92 Toyota Paseo) for super cheap. He was a good car but Bubba could only take us so far. R.I.P. Bubba.

Our Hotel Home

So, if you haven't heard, we are now living in a hotel (since January). Well, a remodeled/converted hotel, but a hotel nonetheless. It's basically a studio apartment. We actually like it a lot. Everything is fancy and new and we have a pool, work out room, and a spa is on the way! It's quite cozy really. And it saves us a bum-load of money. It comes completely furnished too! Here is the new place...

So you walk in and you've got the closets directly to the right and the bathroom past the closet. (That random bookshelf is no longer there.)

If you pass the closet and just walk straight in, this is what you find...

I made the pictures nice and small so you can get the right feel for it. Seriously though, we like it a lot more than we thought we would. Sometimes we imagine living in a cool New York City studio flat. And then we look out the window to the desert.

Life is Good.

The Newest of Things:

For those faithful blog readers.

You get to know first-ish...

We're having a baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rachel is due November 25th and we are so absolutely stoked!

You can now post how excited you are on our blog but we still might try to keep it off of facebook for a while.

Well, thanks for checking in. Maybe we'll have another post up before the new year! ;)

Memphis Adventure

This summer Jesse and I had the opportunity to go down to Memphis to visit family. We flew into Little Rock, Arkansas and left straight from the airport on a camping adventure. Just a little bit shy of our nights resting place our truck broke down. We waited on the side of the road for almost 2 hours before we finally called and got rescued by a tow truck. Best part was all 4 of us squeezed into the cab of the truck WITH the driver. We stayed at this cute little bed and breakfast, the people were so nice to us and gave us a great deal. The next morning the car was still unfixed and having 2 sailboats with us we couldn't go anywhere without that truck. So we decided to hang out for the day in a really odd town called Hot Springs. It was a really funny/fun day. Everywhere we went the place was closed. It became our inside joke, along with being totally decimated and having copious bodaciousness. We did eat some great BBQ though! The next morning the truck was fixed and we were on our way to our campsite. We stayed on a lake full of islands. We pretty much just sailed out into the water, picked and island, pulled up, and set up camp. It was sweet! That day and the next we spent sailing, eating, and playing games. It was my first time sailing and I'm happy to admit that it was WAY FUN!  Jesse let me drive the little sailboat and the catamaran and I tipped them both. PS westerners the water down there is so warm! It feels like a bathtub! That was the most bizarre part of the whole experience. Plus the South is the only place I've ever been that it feels as if the temperature is rising as the sun goes down. I've never been so warm camping, EVER! I didn't even use a sweatshirt or a long sleeve shirt. Getting back to shore was a little tricky. We pulled the little boat full of stuff with the catamaran. Jesse jumped in to save the boat at one point in time and lost his new glasses. We almost capsized many a time on the way back and on the way home from the trip our boat came unhitched from the trailer and swung across several lanes of traffic. It was crazy. But, it was some of the most fun I had had all summer! After we got back to Memphis I got to meet Jared, Alison, and Madi for the first time. What a fun family and Madi is absolutely adorable and super hilarious. Also while in Memphis we went mini golfing, attended Goat Days, went thrifting, and played games with the family. I have great in-laws and am learning more and more to love the South. Thanks for a great trip Blaine and Linda!

Heading out!

Ready to go sailing

Looking into the Future

A lot has happened lately. We are preparing to graduate within a year or so and we have really been looking into what we are going to do when that time comes. Jesse has been on a roll! First of all, Jesse is taking a broadcasting class. Jesse not only loves it but he is a natural. He is a natural and his teacher gives him almost perfect marks on all of his assignments and often uses him as an example. Jesse and I have been looking into going to New York City so Jesse can do an internship for the church's PR office. We have been bounced around from contact to contact and not really accomplishing anything. Finally a break. Jesse's PR teacher introduced an opportunity for his students to shadow one of the church's PR employees during conference. Jesse was able to sign up for priesthood session and we were really excited to get an "in" to the church's PR scene. It wasn't quite the experience we expected. The guy Jesse was shadowing expected that they were just getting nice seats (in the press box) but Jesse was under the impression that they were going to do something. It was kind of disappointing but Jesse did get a REAL contact out of it. We now know that we are not going to New York because the internship there is not paid and we cannot afford New York City. However, we are still waiting to here back about a paid internship for the church's PR office in Salt Lake. We have also applied for an internship with Del Sol. Del Sol is a company that sells merchandise that changes color in the sun. Their stores are all run by interns and are all locating at tourist locations. We are looking into applying for the San Francisco, Australia, or one of the island locations. We are looking to do an internship this winter so we are going to be at an unknown location come the end of December. We are excited for the many opportunities and are also excited to see where the Lord is going to take us. As far as school goes we are both loving this semester. I have never loved school as much as I do this semester. I think I finally found the right major. I am excelling in my baking class, not so much my culinary class, which is alright because baking is what I want to do. Although, I did make soup which was served in a cafe on campus. Also, after trying a bite my baking teacher asked if she could have one of my cinnamon rolls because they were so delicious! I was so excited! Jesse also just lined up a senior project and it is going to be an awesome experience. He is going to work with BYU-Idaho's local radio channel. He'll be making segments for a program that promotes musicians in the area.  He has kind of been given free reign to do interviews for the program as well as add other segments that promote the local artists (he's already thinking he wants to do some sort of news brief about what's happening with current and previous Eastern Idaho artists). Which means Jesse is going to be on the radio!! We are feeling pretty good about life right now and things seem to be falling into place!

Mr. and Mrs. Delgado

This summer Jesse and I had the privilege of going to Seattle for one of my bestest friends weddings! Whitney my best good friend married Kevin, her best good friend! They are amazingly cute and their wedding was even amazingly cuter!! We left Boise on Wednesday and traveled all day to Enumclaw, Washington. We carpooled with Gretchen and Brad Gill which was an amazing blessing because funds were kind of tight. The next morning we drove down to Portland, Oregon and enjoyed a beautiful sealing in the temple there. It was my first live sealing since my own and it was AMAZING! Sealings are so neat. There is such a spirit there and I know that families are eternal. That night we had a dinner and ring ceremony back up in Washington and the next day we had the reception. It was the cutest wedding of all time and everything turned out great so props to Whitney and Kevin!! Saturday we went and spent some time in Seattle. We ate fish and chips at Ivar's, fed the seagulls, went to Pike's market, and put gum on the gum wall. All in all it was a great time! Still so happy for Whitney and Kevin. Nothing can replace the happiness of a temple marriage!! We love you Delgado's!
The happy couple, us, and the couple we carpooled with!
